Soon after we opened our doors it became evident that the children at The Lodge needed safety, stability and familiar surroundings in order to heal. The loss of their home, school, and at times their pet is a major trauma for children. This is how Purple Moose Camp was born.

Symbolism and Inspiration of the Moose

Since the beginning of time it is believed the healing and inspirational power of wild animals can be a source of guidance in our daily lives. According to ancient beliefs, the moose is a symbol of confidence, self esteem and steadfast determination. Purposeful and direct, the moose takes pride in accomplishment, but always maintains strong values and integrity. Moose reminds us that contemplative silence guides and informs our decisions. From a place of quiet reflection, we may proceed on our path with the winds of determination and confidence behind us.

Purple Moose Camp was Established in 2005 when The Lodge opened summer camp, soon after that it was evident that it was needed to host this camp not only for the in house participants, but for the outreach participants as well. The Lodge now run three summer camps a year. Camp is offered during the Summer, Winter & Spring Breaks and is staffed by Child/Youth Advocates and volunteers.
